Columbia Middle School

The counselors at Columbia Middle School are very excited to welcome students and staff to a brand new counseling space at the school. The new space is warm and inviting, and offers many different coping tools and resources for students to take advantage of. Some highlights include a mindful coloring wall, a cozy couch for talking, and lots of space for yoga mats where students can stretch and relax. CMS also recently held their first official Advisory lesson on September 13th where the September precept "Be here, be you, belong!" was announced. Staff and students participated in some friendly icebreakers with a goal of connecting and getting to know each other. Many more fun advisories are planned to come to build community and confidence among CMS students. Mrs. Saunders, the CMS 6th grade counselor, is also in the process of meeting with every 6th grade student in short, group meetings. The goal is for students to have a warm welcome to CMS, connect with the counselor and peers, and see the new counseling space.
