In September 1960, Governor Livingston Regional High School opened its doors to 800 students from Berkeley Heights and Mountainside, including our library.
The 1961 edition of the Claymore, our yearbook, has several photos of faculty, staff, and students in the GL Library. Including the Library Council. The Library Council was composed of volunteers whose many responsibilities consisted of aiding their fellow students to locate literary materials for studies, record new books and make them available to the student body, and stamp and check-out materials. Under the direction of Mrs. Martha Davis, the librarian, the Library Council had been a great help in developing the [then] new library.
Today, the GL IMC strives to be a welcoming space for all students to meet, study, find information, and just be themselves. Currently we have about 11,000 volumes and can accommodate up to three classes simultaneously.
